The story, people, values and vision behind DiverInterCom — KCore Scuba Diving. We developed the KCore Scuba Universe with a game, videos, a quiz and the DiverInterCom website to promote safer diving and provide free public information on scuba diving topics.

Our goal is to bring the underwater sport of scuba diving to a broader public, help make it safer through knowledge and responsible practice, and encourage respect for the ocean and the natural world.
Founder overview
Founder of DiverInterCom.com — Chris K.
Chris K. started diving in 1986, explored caves from 1992, and dived rebreathers from 1994. He later co-founded an Austrian diving club to promote safe diving practices and new diving technologies.
With early web and diving-community involvement, and as a long-time happy customer of the Vienna-based High Pressure Group, he continued into mixed-gas diving and later developed a calm, meditative minimal-gear diving style to enjoy the underwater world and its life.
Our early influences from NAUI, CMAS, ÖBV and pioneering explorers continue to guide our work, together with a deep respect for nature, technology and people. Underwater, these three elements must interact and support each other as one system. When they are balanced, exploration and experience in a different world can become safer, more enjoyable and possible. Our roots in Europe and Austria, as well as in Asia and the Philippines, are also reflected throughout our work, perspective and diving culture.
The Story of DiverInterCom
The roots of DiverInterCom go back to 1992, when the core group was already active as the CET92 — Cave Exploration Team 1992, a small circle of friends, divers and explorers sharing experience, knowledge and a strong interest in exploration and safer diving.
The name DiverInterCom itself came later.
It was first created and written down by Chris K in 1998 for the DiverInterCom Diving Manual 1.0. The manual was developed as a collection of knowledge, practical guidance and educational material for an Austrian registered non-profit association, as well as for the wider circle of friends, divers and explorers around the group.
From the beginning, the idea was simple: collect useful knowledge, share experience, promote safer diving and keep pace with a rapidly changing diving world.
In 2000, DiverInterCom went online for the first time. The website was created to promote safe diving, modern diving technology and communication between divers around the world. Public information was always free to use, while some educational material and services remained available only internally or to members of the group.
Around 2004, DiverInterCom began cooperating with people from the underwater film community and became involved with the Antibes Underwater Film Festival. At the same time, the core team continued to follow new developments in diving technology, training, exploration, equipment and dive culture.
Over the years, DiverInterCom changed with diving itself.
Its roots were strongly influenced by an era of technical diving that often meant heavy equipment, cold water, complex configurations and a very serious approach to preparation and execution. That experience shaped much of the project’s safety philosophy.
But it also led to another idea.
From around 2016 onward, DiverInterCom increasingly focused on opening its knowledge to interested individuals and developing what became the Zen Diving philosophy.
After many years of technical and cold-water diving, Chris K began deliberately exploring the opposite side of the spectrum: shallow enjoyment dives, minimal equipment, relaxed movement, low gas consumption and simply enjoying being underwater.
The idea was not to reject technical diving. Quite the opposite.
It was to take the awareness, discipline and efficiency learned from more demanding diving and bring those qualities into simple recreational diving.
That idea gradually became one of the central elements of what is now DiverInterCom KCore Scuba.
From Tec to Rec to Zen
DiverInterCom never belonged to only one part of diving.
Technical diving, recreational diving, exploration, cave diving, wreck diving, underwater science, equipment, history and modern technologies all became part of the same wider picture.
Today that idea is expressed simply as:
Tec – Rec – Zen
Different styles of diving, but one common foundation:
knowledge, competence, curiosity, safety and enjoyment underwater.
